Robin’s coming
Robin’s Donuts still coming to New Waterford
New Waterford coffee shop will be in different location than originally planned.
There is still a Robin’s Donuts coming to New Waterford but in a different location than originally planned.
Businessman Duke Fraser confirmed to the Cape Breton Post he is currently in the process of buying Dolly’s Convenience Store on Emerald Street.
“There is still some legal work to be done,” Fraser said, adding that the building will be renovated.
In a story in the Post in February 2015, Fraser had planned to build the Robin’s drive-thru and coffee shop property at 762 King St. beside New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. A former medical clinic building on the property was removed.
However, Fraser said since then, the Dolly’s store became available and he saw it as a better location with lots of room for parking and for a drive-thru. As well, he said it’s a flatter piece of
land and there are no turns on the road.
“It’s a better location,” he said.
As far as when it might open, Fraser couldn’t comment. Fraser
said he needs to complete the purchasing process before making those plans.
The business is expected to employ from 10 to 15 people.
Fraser also owns a Robin’s in
Inverness and one at the PetroCanada station in Bras d’Or.
In June 2016 Fraser opened his newest Robin’s in Cheticamp.
