The Glace Bay Y’s Men’s and Women’s Club are reminding the public that bowling leagues are up and running at the Town Centre Lanes on Commercial Street for the season.

Treasurer Bobby Donovan said there’s lots of room for new bowlers.

“We need some bowlers for all the leagues but especially the Wednesday afternoon senior men’s league,” he said. “We need eight to 10 more bowlers for that league. All of the other leagues need bowlers, too.” Leagues include:

Mondays: Men’s league, 6:45 p.m.

Tuesdays: Ladies league, 1 p.m.; Teacher’s league, 6:30 p.m.

Wednesdays: Men’s pensioners league, 1 p.m.; Mixed league, 6:30 p.m.

Thursdays: Ladies league, 1 p.m.; Youth league, 5:30 p.m.; Mixed league, 6:45 p.m.; Convergy’s league at 7 p.m.

Saturdays are open for bowling and birthday parties.

Sundays: Youth league 1:30, p.m.; Mixed league, 6:45 p.m.

If anyone is interested in bowling on a league, they can call the bowling alley at 902849-0279. People can also call to book midnight bowling any night after 10 p.m. There is a minimum charge of $150 for 15 people for three hours of blowing, with lights and music. Donovan said many groups use it as a fundraiser.

The money generated from the bowling lanes goes back into the lanes, the Y’s men’s and women’s, hall and community projects.
