YOUNG, Mary ‘Annie Moore’

Mary ‘Annie Moore’ Young, 92, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Harboursto­ne Enhanced Care in Sydney.

She was born in Sydney, the daughter of the late Angus Joe and Mary Ann MacKenzie of Christmas Island.

She was predecease­d by her first husband, Bernard Moore and second husband, Gerard Young. She was also predecease­d by sisters, Mary Catherine MacKinnon and Rose in infancy; grandson, Glen Moore, and granddaugh­ter, Laura MacVicar Moore.

Annie is survived by two daughters, Bernice (Keith) Aucoin, Sydney and Diane Moore, Toronto; four sons, Pat (Christena), Gerald (Anna), Jack (Kay) and Blair, all of Sydney. She is also survived by 10 grandchild­ren, Beverley, Karen, Shawn, David, Jenny, Becky, Brenda, Geralynn, Darren and Sandy; 17 great grandchild­ren, Kristie, Taylor, Michael, Noah, Patrick, Sarah, Leah, Rachel, Chloe, Daniel, Madison, London, Matthew, Shamus, Zoe, Aiden and Peyton, and by one great-great grandson, Simon Patrick.

Annie enjoyed her family gatherings and gardening on her property in Boularderi­e overlookin­g the beautiful Bras d’Or Lakes. She kept busy producing crafts that she gave as gifts to family and friends. She was a devout Roman Catholic who loved to pray the rosary.

We the family would like to thank Dr. Glen Worth and Dr. Jean Ferguson. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at LeVatte’s Lane, Harboursto­ne Enhanced Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for the Glen Moore Memorial Scholarshi­p at Cape Breton University.

Visitation for Mrs. Young will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 21 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 22 at Holy Redeemer Church with Father Paul Murphy officiatin­g. Interment in the Old Calvary Cemetery, Sydney at a later date.
