Marion Burke, 74, of Big Pond, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in Sydney, Marion was the daughter of Theresa (MacNeil) Burke and the late John ‘Eddy’ Burke.

She is also survived by her sisters, Frances, Ginny, Lucina, Colleen and Virginia; brother, Ed, and a large extended family.

Marion graduated from Holy Angels High School and St. FX University. She worked with Indian Affairs in the Truro area, as a nurses aid in Middleton, and a teacher in Plum Point, Nfld. Marion spent her recent years as a keen student and valued teacher of the Gaelic language, culture and music, while settling in her beloved Big Pond.

Marion has chosen cremation and there will be no visitation. A private ceremony is to occur at a later date.

Special thanks to all those who participat­ed in the wonderful care she experience­d at 4 West of the Northside General Hospital and at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, as well as Dr. Stephanie Langley and the VON.

Marion will be deeply missed for her kind and gentle nature. In lieu of flowers or donations, people may wish to celebrate her life by simply spreading kindness to others.
