McLEOD (MARSHE), Janet Edith

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mother Janet passed away on September 24, 2017 at her home after a brief illness. Born on May 21, 1952 in New Waterford, Cape Breton Island, she was the eldest daughter of the late Wallace and Joyce (Mitchell) Marshe, and was predeceased by her brother, Gordon, and is survived by her brothers, Robert (Beatrice), Peter (Terri), Stephen (Cheryl), and her sister, Coleen, who was her constant companion and caregiver. Our mother led a simple life and dedicated it to raising us, her children, Dianne (Mike), Wally and Erica, and was unfailing in her commitment to give us the best life she could. She didn’t have much in the way of material possessions but she had an abundance of love and loyalty to her family. Our mom was also the birth mother to her son, John, who she selflessly and lovingly placed for adoption as an infant. Our mother was exceedingly proud of her grandchildren, Michael, Alison, Julie and Evan, and the birth of her great-granddaughter, Natalie, brought her tremendous joy. She never missed a birthday always sending a card to her grandchildren with a few dollars tucked inside, a tradition she kept even as they grew into adulthood.

To honor Janet’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

If you have the means and wish to make an expression of sympathy our mother’s lifelong dream was to find a cure for Schizophrenia and a donation to the Schizophrenia Society of Canada Foundation would be appreciated. In keeping with the spirit of our mom, the most important way you can honor her is to live an honest life, be kind to others, take time to have a tea with those you love, lend a caring hand to those who are struggling and remember, “this too shall pass”. Arrangements have been entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, (519) 621-1650.
