Holy Family Parish to host fall fair Sunday in Sydney Mines
For over 20 years, the Holy Family Parish has been hosting an annual fall fair, entertaining hundreds during that time.
The annual Holy Family Parish Fall Fair will take place on Sunday at the Holy Family Parish hall in Sydney Mines.
The one-day fair will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature many different events including food, children’s games, photo booths as well as a new addition this year, the jail and bail game. Merchandise and cash bingo will also take place later in the day at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s a parish fair, but it doesn’t just deal with the parish,” said Terry Jerrett, chair of the Holy Family Parish council. “It involves the community and it and it involves a lot of people interacting, which makes it fun.”
The annual fair is only one of the parish’s fundraisers throughout the year. Money raised from the fundraiser will go towards parish expenses such as heat, electricity and maintenance.
“It’s been so successful in years past because of the participation within our parish and community as well as local businesses,” said Jerrett.
“It’s something we plan for. It’s not just an event where we just take a couple of weeks to prepare for it. It’s a year-long thing that takes a lot of work
and dedication.”
Jerrett said more than 40 volunteers
will help with this year’s fair.
“We’re very lucky to have such a great community that supports us each year,” he said. “We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received this year and for all years in the past – it wouldn’t be possible.”
Like in previous years, organizers would like to see a large turnout for this year’s fair.
“We would encourage everyone
in our parish and within our community to come out on Sunday,” said Jerrett. “We can guarantee a good time.”
