-

A new executive team for the Sydney Waterfront District Association was recently voted in by the membership and will be in place for the next two years.

During the recent annual general meeting, a number of topics were covered including a review of financial statements, future developments and opportunities, presentations by executive director Michelle Wilson and regeneration co-ordinator Bradley Murphy, as well as an introduction from the new president Brittany Woodworth.

The new executive team consists of past president Janelle Osborne of Finishing Touch, president Brittany Woodworth of Timeless Moments, vicepresident Jennifer Griffin of Sydney Credit Union, secretary Holley Grant of Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design and treasurer Brett Simmons of MGM & Associates Accounting.

“I am encouraged by the dynamic of our new team,” Wilson said in a news release. “We have a great mix of backgrounds, ages and experiences that will help us move ahead in our efforts to grow and attract new members.”

“We will have some obstacles along the way, but if we all work together we can accomplish great things,” Woodworth said.

The association is a not-for profit organization funded by its membership. Members are businesses or building owners located within the business improvement district. Its mandate is to promote retail and commercial activity, assist with beautification and to promote and co-ordinate events and initiatives.
