The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation wants you to tune in and support patient care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital by listening to RadioDay 2017 on 101.9 The Giant and New Country 103.5 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday.

For the 10th year, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is hitting the airwaves and asking Cape Bretoners to support the hospital.

Patients and families will tell their stories while groups and donors, who fundraise throughout the year, make

their donations. Volunteers will be busy taking phone calls throughout the day and the community comes together in locations across the CBRM to collect change through the RadioDay’s change buckets.

There will be two hours dedicated as Power Hours. From 8-9 a.m., MECO Construction DKI is matching every donation made up to $10,000 and from 4-5 p.m., Jim Sampson Motors will be doing the same.

MECO Construction DKI has been a Power Hour sponsor for three years and this will be the fifth year for Jim Sampson Motors.

“Over the last nine years, our radio events have raised more than $4.3 million for the regional hospital,” said Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation CEO Brad Jacobs. “These events bring our community together to share the stories of patients who’ve received life-saving care and to support the thousands of stories that we will never get to hear.”

The focus of RadioDay is the foundation’s Operation Heart campaign. Money raised will support operating room equipment and cardiac care in Cape Breton.

As part of Operation Heart, the foundation is fundraising to purchase important operating room equipment that is used in the 11,000 surgical procedures that occur at the regional hospital every year.

Although Operation Heart is the main focus, the hospital foundation encourages people to give where they feel most connected. That may be the Cancer Patient Care Fund, Caleb’s Courage, pediatrics unit or one of many other areas of need.

Community members and businesses are encouraged to drop in to the RadioDay on Thursday at 500 Kings Rd. in Sydney or call 1-877-567-8077 to make a donation.

Since 1992, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation in partnership with the community has raised more than $38 million to purchase equipment and fund upgrades at the regional hospital. Since 2014, the foundation has raised $1.35 million for mental health services.
