Upgrading the waterfront
CBRM issues tenders for Louisbourg infrastructure improvements
The Cape Breton Regional Municipality has issued a request for tenders for waterfront upgrades in Louisbourg.
The work will include construction of a new boardwalk and entrance ramps, consisting of new timber, sleepers, joists, decking and curbs supported by compacted gravels.
Demolition of existing boardwalk areas and entrances is also noted in the tender.
Repairs to existing damaged boardwalk, including timber decking, stringers, sleepers, gravel and cribwork blocking is part of the work as well.
The proposed work also calls for removal and replacement of exterior lighting along the boardwalk.
The winning bidder will also cover the supply and installation of new fenders and ladders on the existing wharf as well as repairs (reinstallation) to existing mooring cleats.
The seemingly large job also covers replacement of a gangway entrance consisting of
timber beams and deck and supported on a steel beam and column.
Landscaping around the upgraded
boardwalk, reinstatement of all disturbed surfaces and services and all related work and incidentals are also covered in the tender.
The tender recently appeared on the website for the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
Bids must be submitted to the CBRM by Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.
All work must be completed by Dec. 22 with the exception of landscaping, which should be delayed until the spring of 2018, according to the document.
