Sergeant Natalie Matheson, 27, was born in Glace Bay and is the daughter of Donna and David Matheson. In her younger years she played piano and was on a badminton team. She later boxed throughout junior high. She attended Glace Bay Elementary before going to Morrison Junior High, eventually attending Glace Bay High and graduating in 2008. She joined the Canadian Armed Forces to have more challengin­g experience­s. She is a mobile support equipment operator and currently an instructor at 5th Canadian Division Training Centre (Detachment Aldershot). So far, Matheson has loved her 10 years of service because she gets to try new things, challenge herself and meet new people. In her years of experience, Matheson has completed numerous courses all across Atlantic Canada as well as in Virginia in 2009. Matheson’s future goal is to be in the Regular Forces and be a MSE op fulltime.
