It is with great sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother, grandmothe­r, greatgrand­mother, great-greatgrand­mother, sister and aunt, Susan C. (MacLean) MacDonald, on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the age of 87.

Susan was born February 12, 1930, in Cape North to the late Neil Duncan and Annie Mae (Petrie) MacLean. She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert M. MacDonald.

Susan enjoyed fellowship at St. John’s United Church UCW, and also enjoyed her friends at card playing.

She was the devoted mother of Carol (Bernie) Ludyka, Margaret Forrest, Dolena (Billy) LeBlanc, Norman (Sally), Vivian (Derwin) Campbell, Molly (Stan) MacDonald, Rachael (Dale) Theriault and Dwayne (Roseann), also step-children, Gilbert and Carl; loving grandmothe­r to 25 grandchild­ren, 35 great-grandchild­ren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was loving sister to Catherine Sykes, Anna (Dennis) Gilmore, Lena Risk, James (Hope) MacLean, Linda Ardelli, and Annette Nicholson.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predecease­d by sisters, Annabell, Joan and Eileen; brother, Angus; son-inlaw, Wayne Forrest, and a child in infancy.

Visitation for Susan MacDonald will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. The funeral service will take place on Friday, at 2 p.m. in St. John’s United Church, Big Bras d’Or, with Diane Kempt DLM officiatin­g. The burial will be in St. James Cemetery. The family would appreciate a scent-free environmen­t.
