Casino could use some more hospitality

-

I live in North Sydney and last Saturday I went out for a drive with my mentally challenged son. He is 27 years old with an age level of a four-year-old. He cannot be left unattended which is very apparent upon seeing him.

We happened to be in the Sydney area and at the last minute we decided to drop into the casino to get a couple of forms for the casino’s players club card.

Upon entering the casino, a security guard came right over and asked for my son’s photo ID. I tried to explain that I was only there to pick up some player card forms and I didn’t have his photo ID because it was a last-minute decision to drop in.

Instead of trying to help, I was rudely told that my son needed to leave the premises immediately if he didn’t have a photo ID. As I was leaving the building I did not appreciate how we were being treated so I decided to return and ask for the head of security. He was very helpful and stayed with my son until I got the forms that I needed. Thanks, Jeff!

Upon reflection I decided I won’t be using these forms now and will think twice before going back. When I returned home I tried to contact the casino manager regarding this issue, but, after multiple attempts and leaving my name and phone number, I was unsuccessful.

I guess if courtesy doesn’t start from the top it won’t get to the bottom. I know the casino has rules and policies but being an establishment that is trying to attract customers I would hope it would be more helpful, especially for the mentally challenged whose days are rough enough.

It is, after all, the kindness and help from others which makes everyone’s day easier.
