Port Cities big winners at the Nova Scotia Music Awards

Port Cities took home five awards at the Nova Scotia Music Awards on Sunday night, including entertaine­r of the year.

The trio, made up of Cape Bretoners Carleton Stone and Breagh MacKinnon, as well as Dylan Guthro, who is the son of Bruce Guthro, met thanks to Gordie Sampson’s Songcamp workshops in Ingonish.

In 2015, they created Port Cities and their pop-folk sound quickly caught the attention of music lovers.

Their debut album, “‘Port Cities,” produced by Sampson, won recording, group recording and pop recording of the year. They also won digital artist of the year.

Three other Capers won awards — Mike (Sheppy) Shepherd for sound engineer, Keith Mullins for children’s artist, and Maxim Cormier Acadian/Francophon­e artist.
