Female police officers meeting in Membertou
Three-day conference begins Tuesday
Female police officers from across Atlantic Canada will gather in Sydney beginning Tuesday for the annual Atlantic Women in Law Enforcement conference.
The conference is set to run for three days and will be held in Membertou under the theme Believe in the Possibilities.
“Once again, our organizing committee has done a fantastic job pulling together a very impressive agenda,” Sgt. Carolyn Nichols, organization president, said in a press release. “The training conference agenda includes information sessions, guest speakers, case studies, the annual general meeting, an awards banquet and a uniform parade.
This year’s keynote address will be given by Heather Moyse, of Prince Edward Island, a twotime Olympic gold medallist in bobsledding who also represents Canada in rugby and track cycling.
This year’s marks the 25 anniversary of the conference, which is designed as a forum where law enforcement personnel receive professional development, foster interagency networking, along with recognizing their peers for outstanding service.
This year’s conference topics include presentations on leadership, child neglect, domestic violence, computer technology and forensics and an investigative case study.
