Gwendolyn ‘Faye’ Matheson (Rose), age 47, of Enfield, passed away November 5, 2017 at home.

Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of Ronald and Shirley (Taylor) Rose, North Sydney.

After meeting the love of her life, Winston, in high school they enjoyed 25 years of marriage together. She embraced her role as a military wife and quickly made many friends everywhere they were posted. Faye was a kind and giving person who cherished every moment with family. Quick witted, she loved to laugh and joke when family gathered. Loved to go for drives and in recent years got the travel bug by visiting Cuba and Dominican, Alberta and British Columbia. She was very proud of Sarah and Will’s accomplish­ments, especially having both children attending St. Mary’s University.

She is survived by her loving husband, Winston Matheson; cherished children, Sarah and William at home; she is also survived by and will be dearly missed by her siblings, Donna (James) Foster, Sydney Mines, Suzanne (Guy) Cox, Sydney Mines, Gary (Janette) Rose, Alberta, Bonney (Matt) Murphy, Sydney, Paul (Karen) Rose, Miramichi; sisters-in-law, Laura (John) Evans, Alberta, Cindy (Scott) Miller, Ontario, Debbie Matheson, Sydney; mother-in-law, Ruth Matheson, Sydney; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and two great nieces, cousins, and many friends.

Faye was predecease­d by grandparen­ts, Arthur and Clara (Pieroway) Rose, Charles and Jessie (Coffin) Taylor; niece, Emily Jean Fells and nephew, Daniel Foster; sister-in-law, Carolyn Matheson.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home.

Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacad­ie, Rev. David LeBlanc officiatin­g. Interment at a later date.

Donations in memory of Faye may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
