It is with heavy hearts we the family announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmothe­r, greatgrand­mother, aunt and friend. Mary, age 86 passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maude (Currie) Boutilier.

She was a long time resident of 3rd Street in the Hub, a member of St John’s Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mary was a very kind hearted person and will be remember for her times spent with her loving family. She would grasp every opportunit­y life offered her to have fun and enjoyment; especially the times spent camping at Mira Water Park with her daughter Lisa, Danny and their dog, Milo. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially songs sung by Johnny Reid and Narvel Felts.

Mary is survived by her loving children, daughters, Lisa MacNeil (Danny Chislett) with whom she resided, Linda Pittman, Sylvia Pittman, all of Glace Bay; and Joanne MacNeil, BC; sons, Gregory Pittman, NB and Troy MacNeil, Saskatchew­an. She will also be missed by her grandchild­ren, Amanda, Greg, Danette (Tom Lawlor) (whom she raised as a daughter), Jeanann, Michelle, Bernice (Derek), Vanessa (Glenn), Danielle (Ricky); nine greatgrand­children and two greatgreat-grandchild­ren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, Mary was predecease­d by her first husband, Gregory Pittman in 1956; she was then remarried to Ronald William MacNeil for 47 years until his passing in December 2010; whom she missed dearly and is now again reunited with him in eternal peace. She was also predecease­d by her twin brother who died at birth; sisters, Kate and Blanche; brothers, Joe, Willie, Neilie, John “Goo” and Tom.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 1-2 p.m. with the service commencing at 2 p.m.; all in the V. J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., in Glace Bay.

Interment will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.

At this time we would like to give a very sincere thank you, to the VON, New Waterford Homecare and the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County for their compassion­ate care.
