JESSOME, Francis ‘Rob’

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r, Francis Gabriel ‘Rob’ Jessome, age 82, on Tuesday November 7, 2017.

Born in Florence on March 25, 1935 he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Jessome.

Rob was a welder/pipe fitter by trade and a lifetime member of the local union 682; he also worked at Marine Atlantic and as a monitor for Dept. of Fisheries, mostly in Little River.

He enjoyed long drives, walks along the boardwalk, travelling and playing cards with family and friends. Most of all he loved spending time with the joys of his life, his grandchild­ren, Skylar, Kyle, Hannah and Garret. Rob touched many hearts with his humor and wit and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Susan Campbell; children, Paul Jessome, Rob O’Quinn, Glen Jessome, Sherri (Frank) Campbell, Dawn Campbell, Raylene (Tom) Barnhill, Cathy Davey; sisters, Ramona (Jack) Matthews, Cathy (Peter) Robinson, Star (Joe) Jessome, Carol Potvin and brother, Ray (Margaret) Jessome; 13 grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Rob was predecease­d by his brother, Bud and sisters, Iris and Marie.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Leonard’s Church, New Waterford with Fr. Ray Huntley officiatin­g. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or a charity of choice.
