It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom on Sunday, November 12, 2017 with her children and grandchild­ren by her side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Mom was born on July 17, 1931 in Dort’s Cove, Guysboroug­h, NS and was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Porter.

Gladys enjoyed crocheting, baking and playing cards. Mom’s most cherished moments were those spent with her children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She will be missed by all.

Gladys is survived by her children, Billie (Florence), Ruth (Doug) Dupe and Scott (Arlene MacEachern), son-in-law Tom Pheifer, all of New Waterford and Darlene (Donald) Muise of Winnipeg, MB. She was Nanny/ Grandma to ten grandchild­ren and Great-Grandma to eleven great grandchild­ren. Mom is also survived by her siblings, Jerome (Janet) Porter, Scott (Violet) Porter, Betty (Ervin) Rafter, and sister-in-law, Ada (late Courtney) Porter.

Mom was predecease­d by our Dad, Harold ‘Bonnie’ Hulme in 1995; her daughter, Lillian Pheifer in 2008, and grandson, Douglas Pheifer in 1973. She was also predecease­d by her sisters, Edith (Robert) Gammon, Doris (Harold) Taylor, and brother, Courtney (Buddy) Porter.

Visitation will be at held at V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, NS on Tuesday (today), November 14, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in All Saints Anglian Church, Gibbon St, New Waterford at 11 a.m. with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiatin­g. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow in All Saints Anglican Church Hall.
