More needles

Still hate getting them

- Kathy Golemiec

So how was your week? I couldn’t believe it, I looked out the window this morning and there it was in the trees, the white stuff.

I wasn’t happy to see that. Thunder wasn’t impressed either – to start with, he didn’t know what it was.

I’m doing much better this week, still no feeling in my hands but my feet aren’t so bad. I went to see my oncologist this week and he said once I get my heart MUGA scan done, if it’s OK, I will be able to start chemo again, and not long after that the bone filler.

The multigated acquisition (MUGA) scan is a nuclear medicine imaging test that checks how well the heart is pumping during rest or exercise. It is a nuclear medicine test and that’s a two needle event. That’s eight needles for this arm this week, not a happy week.

While I was at the doctor’s the nurse came in and gave me the flu shot and a few minutes later came back and said she had a two-for-one needle day, so I got a tetanus shot as well.

I said to her, will this needle hurt? She didn’t answer because the flu shot was a breeze, and I hate needles, so when she didn’t answer, that was the answer I needed. It only had a little stinging in it, but my arm was fine – no swelling, no sore arm the next day.

That was a good thing. When I got my CT scan done I had a nasty bruise from that needle. My elbow is still black and blue but that comes with the disease. My hands are still numb so that may be the reason the needles didn’t hurt as bad. Before I went I put the freezing cream on so the needles don’t hurt as much.

The scan came back with five new spots – two in my spine inside the discs and one each on my ribs and of course it has to be the ribs my bra is on so I can feel them all the time, darn. I knew about one on my liver and I guess it’s a bit bigger than I was hoping.

And my internet hasn’t worked for two weeks, so I can’t look up how to help my liver by detoxing it. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I will try to get my liver cleaned up – no more junk food (there goes my candy, darn). And there goes sugar. It’s my responsibility to help clean my liver and get it back into shape.

My pain level is a 10 this week in my hip, and it’s hard to sit long with the spots in my spine. If I get chemo later this month, hopefully things will get better.

Yesterday was the last day of the steroids so the fluffy face should go down – for the steroids that’s a double woohoo. Now I have to work on getting the extra weight off, mostly in my face and belly. I’m thinking the belly is swollen also from the liver.

So I hope my internet is fixed soon, it’s been down for two weeks.

My oldest daughter had a birthday on November 17. Happy birthday Mandy, have a great day. She lives in B.C. so I won’t even get to see the Facebook pictures until after the day. Love you honey.

My brother’s girlfriend Wanda is having a birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday Wanda, hope you have a great day. I’m so happy you are part of our family. If you see Wanda in Amherst, wish her a happy birthday.

Thunder is getting neutered this week, so he is not going to be happy with me going around with a neck collar on. I got a T-shirt that says it’s all fun and games until the cone goes on. Ha, I think it’s funny but I don’t think he would if he could read.

Thank you for all the cards and gifts, they are so much appreciated. Thank you Colleen for all the prayers, they help so much.

If you drop by the flea market I’m under the B sign, stop and say hello.

Tip of the week: Time to get out your winter coats and get them cleaned up for the season. And waterproof your winter boots.

To get the alkaline balanced in your body, someone told me to take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. I will give it a try.

My daughter Mandy is really good at finding things on the internet to help make life easier. She is into natural remedies. She should have been a naturopath.

Have a good week folks – and yes it’s time to turn the heat on. Stay warm.
