MACPHEE, Daniel Joseph ‘Dan Joe’

-

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph ‘Dan-Joe’ MacPhee, at the age of 56 years. He passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, November 19, 2017, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Peter and Marie (MacNeil) MacPhee, was a life-long resident of Bridgeport and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Along with his great love of family, Dan had a passion for farming and enjoyed doing so alongside his father Peter; plowing fields, making hay and tending to the cattle. His working career started with DEVCO and later he was employed with the Public Works Department of the CBRM as a machine operator until 2008 when he had to leave due to health issues. For several years he was also a local coal hauler in the Glace Bay and surrounding area.

Dan-Joe had two loves in life; his family and farming. He truly enjoyed his times spent with his boys on their farm or at home with Stephanie and their “Little Princess” Lily Jo.

He was a very loving husband and father; his boys worshipped him. He was also a very giving person helping anyone in need if he was able.

Dan-Joe is survived by his loving wife, soul mate and best friend, Stephanie (McKinnon); sons, Connor Peter, Jude Daniel, Traynor Neil and daughter, Lily Jo; brothers, John Peter (Marie), Kevin (Jackie), Bernard (Angela) and Brian (Kathy), and sisters, Aileen (Chris), Mary Belinda (Terry). He will also be sadly missed by his in-laws, Neil and Patricia McKinnon; brother-in-law, Neil McKinnon, many nieces, nephews and friends, especially Lee Toomey, who Dan thought of as a son.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2017, in V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
