MARCHESIN, Margaret ‘Kay’

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Margaret ‘Kay’ Marchesin at the age of 73. Kay passed away surrounded by her family on November 20, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret (Boone) Martin.

Kay lived at the senior’s complex on Sterling Road and could be frequently found visiting family in Bridgeport, or friends and machines at the Row Street Athletic Club.

She will be immensely missed by her sons, Leo (Celeste), Donnie and Billie; “Her Girls”, Shellie and Kelly, who were like daughters; grandsons, Geoff, Leo (Julie), Devin, Adrian, Carter, Josh, and granddaugh­ter, Jamie; cherished great –grandchild­ren, Leo, Lincoln and Zoey; sister, Cecelia; brothers, Leo, Fabian (Diane), William (Kathy) and Paul (Liz), and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, she was also predecease­d by her first husband, John Sheldon Saccary, and her second husband, Joseph Marchesin; brothers, Harry, Bob and Ronnie, and sisters, Mel, Rita, Mary and Eileen.

There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.

A Funeral Mass officiated by Fr. Daniel Boudreau will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.

All are invited to join Kay’s family for a reception in Immaculate Conception Church Hall.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

At this time we would like to thank everyone who supported and assisted Kay the last few years; from the New Waterford Home care personnel, nurses and doctors at the Cape Breton Regional and Halifax QE II Hospitals and the Harbour View Rehab Centre.
