One of two people charged in connection with a spending spree supported by stolen credit cards was released from custody Friday on conditions.

Alcina Rose Denny, 30, of George Street, Sydney, is charged with three counts of possession of stolen property and two counts of fraud.

Her co-accused, Chad Francis Delaney, 32, also of George Street, Sydney, is charged with six counts of possession of stolen property and five counts of fraud.

Denny was released Friday while Delaney was remanded pending the outcome of a bail hearing now set for Monday.

Among the conditions of her release, Denny is to abide by a curfew and is not allowed to enter such businesses as Tim Hortons, Burger King, Shoppers Drug Mart, Value Village and Big Ben’s Convenience store.

She is to return to provincial court Dec. 18 to enter pleas.

According to Cape Breton Regional Police, the two people were nabbed Wednesday night after employees at Big Ben’s alerted police to suspicious credit card purchases.

Investigators found a male to be in possession of several credit cards and both suspects were in possession of several purchases made with the cards.

Police also determined a vehicle the two were driving had been reported stolen. The cards were connected to reported thefts from vehicles in the Rosemount Drive and Cabot Street areas.

Police continue to investigate all purchases made with the cards and say that further charges are pending.
