CLARK (Sparling), Neila Ann

-

How do we begin to say goodbye to someone who means so much…

With broken hearts we, the family of Neila Ann (Sparling) Clark, 54, of Sydney, announce her untimely passing surrounded by her loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on November 23, 2017 despite the heroic efforts of the medical team involved in her care.

She was the daughter of George Sparling and the late Pauline Mac Gillivary.

Until falling ill, Neila was employed with the Membertou Gaming Commission. Previous to this she had a long history working in the customer service field where she developed many long lasting friendships. Her favourite place was the beach where she could spend hours at a time reading a good book. There was nothing Neila loved more than being with her family; especially cooking with her sisters. Her other passion was shopping; she always loved to find the perfect gift. Neila shared many crazy adventures with her “sister friend”, her partner in crime, her snoop sister, Gina. Over the past two years Neila endured many health issues and challenges that she faced with courage and determination. We all admired her positive outlook and strength. Despite her own struggles she was always concerned about the well-being of her family and friends.

Neila will be forever missed by her most precious gift and the center of her world, her son, Christopher Clark (Jacqueline); beloved grandson, Cameron; and her furbaby, Moose. She is also survived by her partner, John MacDonald of Westmount. Neila leaves behind her father, George Sparling (Clara); and her four sisters, Darlene (Colby), Charlene (John), Gina (Gary), and Nancy (Kelly). Left to mourn is her large, extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews. Neila was forever grateful to her dear uncle, Collie and aunt, Korena.

Neila was predeceased by her husband, Greg Clark; her mother, Pauline Mac Gillivary; her maternal grandparents, Dan and Margaret MacGillivary; her paternal grandparents, George and Gertrude Sparling; as well as her special niece, Denise Noelle Legge.

A celebration of Neila’s life will take place Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a reception to follow. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.

Donations in loving memory of Neila can be made to Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or Cape Breton Metro VON.
