HOGAN, Joseph ‘Joey’

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of a father, son, brother and uncle, Joseph ‘Joey’ Hogan at the Victoria Hospital in Edmonton, Alta., after a lengthy battle of illness.

Born in New Victoria on May 27, 1958, he was the son of Pauline (Deruelle) and the late Clarence (Bosiey) Hogan.

On his trips home to New Victoria, Joey enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He could tell a good story and make you laugh. Joey was very grateful, thoughtful and thankful to everyone he came across.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Crystal, Brandan and stepdaught­er, Mary; sisters, Jenny (JR) MacNeil, New Victoria, Darlene (Hogan) Darling, New Victoria; brother, Paul (Marg), Glace Bay and sister-inlaw, Alice, New Victoria. Also aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, great niece and nephews.

Besides his father, he was predecease­d by his paternal grandparen­ts, Frank and Eliza Hogan; maternal grandparen­ts, Paul and Kaye Deruelle and brother-in-law, Leonard Darling.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. with a commemorat­ion service following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S., 902-862-7500.

No flowers by request of family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cape Breton Cancer Patient Care Fund, c/o Tom MacNeil, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney or a charity of one’s choice.
