People gathered at the Every Woman’s Centre in Sydney on Wednesday to celebrate National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The event also commemorated the 28th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, a mass shooting at the Ecole Polytechnique on Dec. 6, 1989, where Marc Lepine shot 28 people and killed 14 women. Participants at the Sydney event held a candlelight vigil to remember victims of violence against women.
