Sydney chamber looking for new council members

The Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking new members for its chamber council for 2018.

Terms for some members have expired and the chamber is looking for new blood from the private sector to strengthen the voice of the chamber.

In a release, the chamber of commerce is looking to attract new members from the Glace Bay, New Waterford, Louisbourg and North Sydney areas.

The council meets over lunch on the first Monday of every month except in July, August, September and January.

Any business owner or manager wishing to get involved in the chamber is asked to contact the chamber executive director Adrian White at 902-564-6453 or email adrian@sydneyarea­chamber.ca before Dec. 22.

In addition to advocacy initiative­s, the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce administer­s a group benefit program for its members, hosts major business networking events, facilitate­s a member-to-member discount program, administer­s Labour and Advanced Education Department sponsored workplace skills training courses for the small business community and organizes group tours with the most recent being a trip to China in late October.
