David A.F. Cadegan-MacLellan, 83, of Halifax, NS, passed away peacefully, with his wife Leone at his side, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.

David was born in Bridgeport, NS, to John Duncan and Mary Cadegan, due to his mother’s ill health he was adopted by Bridget and Charles MacLellan. David resided in North Sydney for many years and then moved to Halifax in 2005.

David is survived by his wife, Leone (Merchant); his daughters, Tracey Knee (Dennis) North Sydney and Karen, Halifax; son, David (Brenda) AB; brother, John Cadegan (Donna), USA; grandchild­ren, Terry, Amanda, Cheryl, Lauren, Alicia, Shelby, Hayley and Cameron, and 11 great grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and close friends.

David was predecease­d by his wife, Teresa (MacDonald) in 2002; his parents, Mary and John Duncan Cadegan, Bridget and Charles MacLellan; sister, Aileen MacDonald; brother, Earl Cadegan, and sister, ‘Ann Terry’ MacLellan.

David was strong in faith and in service to his community. He attended Saint Joseph’s Catholic Parish in North Sydney and later Caritas in Halifax. David was a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), United Commercial Travelers and Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.

David was a devoted family man who truly loved h is extended family. He also enjoyed the companions­hip of his various canine friends through the years.

His family would like to thank the caregivers who made his last year comfortabl­e for him; Dr. Adrienne Watson, Devon Hennigar and the physicians and nurses of 7A Palliative Care at Victoria General Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in North Sydney, Saturday, December 16 at 10 a.m.
