Protest rally set for noon today at Kellys Mountain
KELLYS MOUNTAIN, Victoria Co. — There will be a rally of support for protection of Kluscap (Kellys) Mountain and other protected areas in Nova Scotia today at noon.
The rally is a protest against the Mining Association of Nova Scotia. The event will be led by grandmothers, elders, and other members of the Mi’kmaq Nation and is expected to be supported by citizens from across the province.
A group will be gathering just off the Trans-Canada Highway at its junction with the Kempt Head Road, just before the Seal Island Bridge on Boularderie Island.
The plan is to walk across the Seal Island Bridge to Kluscap Mountain. Organizers are encouraging people from across the province to come and show their support for this Mi’kmaq sacred site and for Nova Scotia’s protected natural areas.
The storm date in the event of bad weather on Saturday is at noon on Sunday. For more information, visit ecologyaction.ca
