We, the family of Joseph T. MacDonald (Teddy), regret to announce his passing on December 16, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born in Neil’s Harbour, he was a son of Thelma MacLeod and the late Joseph MacDonald.

Ted served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 138 Ashby.

He is predecease­d father, Joseph MacDonald, and two infant brothers.

Teddy will be dearly missed by his loving partner, Debbie Barrington. Also left to mourn are his mother, Thelma MacLeod of Ingonish; his sister, Yvonne (Graham), Neil’s Harbour; brothers, Jeffrey (Brenda), Ingonish and Conrade (Nancy), Alberta; stepson, Todd (Michelle) Forbes, and two granddaugh­ters, Serena and Katlyn, Saskatchew­an; stepson, Darren Forbes, Saskatchew­an, and aunt, Lorraine Rideout, Ingonish. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the Palliative Care nurses and the V.O.N.

Cremation has taken place. A celebratio­n of Teddy’s life will take place Thursday, December 21 at 2 p.m. in the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home chapel, located at 564 Alexandra St. in Sydney. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
