Capstick

We regret to announce the passing of the Edmund Capstick, 90, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Buchanan Memorial Medical Centre in Neil’s Harbour, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Capstick on December 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Annie Mae Capstick. He was a member of St. Margaret’s Parish in Bay St. Lawrence.

Ebbie was a man that knew how to enjoy life. He was well known from Cape Breton to Calgary for his kind and forgiving nature. He had time for everyone: family, friends, and strangers. He loved fiddle music, trucks, sweets, and cold beer. He also enjoyed his time in the woods. He was happiest when he was busy, always puttering. On weekends, his treat was a trip to the Doryman, where you might see him even doing a step of his own. In his later years, he lived happily at Highland Manor where he much appreciated the care the staff showed him.

He is survived by his son, Eddie Hawley, and grandchildren, Jesse and Bailey Hawley, as well as brothers, John Dan Jobes and William Vanechuk. Ebbie was also a loving member of the Williams family, loved and missed by Darrell, Jocelyn, Georgia and Meadow.

He was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn (Williams), Mary Alice (MacDonald), Clara (Planetta), Lucy (Hoysa), Christina (Perry), and brothers, Freddie, Johnny, Thomas and Morris.

Visitation for the late Edmund Capstick will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 12 - 2 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, Bay St. Lawrence. The Funeral Mass will take place Thursday at 2 p.m., with Fr. Lazarus Guria officiating. The burial will take place at a later date.

Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www. jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
