Eva Claire Dalton, age 72, passed away on December 22 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Half Way Cove and spent most of her married life in Sydney, Nova Scotia until 6 years ago when she and her husband moved to Dartmouth to be near their children.

Eva is survived by her husband of 50 years, James; daughters, Deborah (David) and Eileen, both in Dartmouth; son, James (Crystal), living in Alberta, and grandsons, DJ, Jimmie and Mikey. She is also survived by special niece and friend, Heather Robson; brothers, Raymond, Douglas and Arnold; sisters, Evelyn and Christina, and many nieces and nephews.

Eva is predecease­d by daughter, Lisa, who she has missed dearly for the past three years but is now reunited with. Also predecease­d by her parents, Clara and Kenneth, and brothers, John, Kenneth, Lewis, Percy and Leo.

Eva worked at LeBrignole­t, a well-known home and holiday gift shop in Sydney, and became well known for her love of all things Christmas. Her holiday decorating could be seen in many businesses and residences throughout the years.

Even after moving she kept in touch with two very dear friends in Sydney, Heather and Theresa. She missed having tea with them but spent many a times talking on the phone and the making trips to Sydney to visit.

Visitation will be December 28, 7 p.m. at the Dartmouth Funeral, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth, NS with visitation and funeral on January 3, 2 p.m. at Chant Funeral Home, 564 Alexander St., Sydney, NS, with reception to follow.
