Mae (MacDonald) Montgomery passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017 just days past her 95th birthday. She was surrounded by family and friends which were her joy and comfort. Mae was born on the Meadow Road, the fourth child of Charlie and Maggie MacDonald’s family of eight.

Like most of the women of her generation, Mae’s life revolved around her family, her home and her church.

Mae is survived by her children, Norma (Charles) Garland, Anna (Scotty) McCrory, Barbara (Donald) Tower, Donna (Harold) Frizzell and John (Gail) Montgomery; grandchild­ren, Jeanette Cory, Kimberly (Steven) Garland, Graham (April) Garland and Kevin (Wendy) Garland; great-grandchild­ren, Kaitlin, Tyler and Alyssa Garland; sisters, Katherine (late Norman) Montgomery, Sadie (late Murdock) MacLean, and special niece, Margaret (late Murdock) MacLeod. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins far and wide.

Mae was predecease­d by her husband, Donald John Montgomery; infant child, Jessie Mae; her parents, Charles and Margaret MacDonald; sisters, Jessie MacDonald and Christine (Donald) Nicholson; brothers, Kenny MacDonald, Johnny (Anna Mae) MacDonald and Roddie (Josephine) MacDonald; special nephew, John C. MacDonald, and special friend and neighbor, Catherine (Garrett) MacDonald.

The family wish to offer a special notes of thanks to Rev. Corrie Stewart for his many visits with Mother at Alderwood. Special thanks to Dr. Chow for his years of dedicated care as well as the staff at the Doctor’s Clinic and Victoria County Memorial Hospital. We also wish to thank all the caring and competent women from Home Care who enabled Mom to remain at home as long as possible. And finally, the outstandin­g compassion­ate care Mom received at Alderwood that helped her adapt to a new “home” and made her final days and hours peaceful and comfortabl­e.

Mae was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, North River and a life-time member of MacLeod AMS. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, North River Bridge 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, Funeral 2 p.m. on January 3, 2018 with Rev. Corrie Stewart Officiatin­g.

Funeral direction under the care of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, North River or a charity of your choice.
