POULETTE, Mary Ann ‘Malian’

Mary Ann ‘Malian’ Poulette of Eskasoni passed away suddenly on January 9, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. By her side was her husband of 40 years, Reggie Poulette.

Mary Ann worked at the Mi’kmaw Lodge Treatment Center for 15 years. She was a ‘Jack of All Trades’, the best baker, basket maker and artist. While raising her family, their house was the hangout for all the friends, they called her Molly Mom. Whatever she touched turned into something beautiful.

Mary Ann was deeply religious and devoted; she went on a pilgrimage in 1984 to Lourdes France with her mother, Dorothy and son, R.J. in search of a cure for his cancer. In 1985 she was thrilled to meet the Pope at IWK in Halifax with R.J., husband, Reggie and sister, Marie. She took time to listen to those around her and helped when she could. She valued her relationsh­ips with her coworkers and friends. Mary Ann’s most treasured time was spent with her beloved grandchild­ren, Louie, Francis Ji’j, Liam, Kaylynne, Ma’sl Ji’j, John Andrew and her greatgrand­daughter, Ava. She will be dearly missed by all, including her neighbour and sister-inlaw, Donna Saqmaw.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Reggie; children, Marshall, Nora, Francis John and Tim, all of Eskasoni; sisters, Rose Jack, Eskasoni, Josephine Poulette, Afton; brother, George Sack, Dorchester, NB; her grandchild­ren; godmother, Lottie Johnson; godchildre­n, Roselena and Francis; uncle, Leo; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.,

She was predecease­d by her parents, Nora and Louis Sack of Eskasoni; foster parents, Mike and Dorothy Marshall, Eskasoni; brother, James Sack; son, Reggie James Poulette; grandson, Joseph Michael; as well as many aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank the Dialysis staff as well as the doctors and nurses in Emergency at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Mary Ann Poulette will be on Thursday (today) at 7 p.m. at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiatin­g. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
