A Sydney man has been remanded pending his next court appearance in connection with an armed robbery Wednesday night in Sydney.

Stephen Douglas Hollohan, 28, of Cabot Street is charged with armed robbery and two counts of breaching court orders in connection with a hold-up at Woodford’s Convenience on Dorchester Street, formerly Northend Dairy.

A spokesperson for Cape Breton Regional Police said Thursday the incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man entered the store with a knife and demanded cash. He fled the scene on foot and was arrested a short time later walking in the vicinity. Police recovered some cash believed to have been taken from the store.

Hollohan made a brief court appearance Thursday and was remanded pending a bail hearing now set for Jan. 30.
