Cape Breton Highlanders down visiting Island Storm in NBL Canada action
The Cape Breton Highlanders improved their record to 6-10 on the season after a 117-113 win over the Island Storm in National Basketball League of Canada action at Centre 200, Friday.
The Highlanders have won four of their last five games and are creeping closer to the Island Storm (8-7), who have lost three straight games, in the Atlantic Division standings.
Cape Breton trailed the Storm after the first quarter 21-18, but would take a 48-45 lead into the half, this after Bruce Massey dropped nine points in the second quarter for the Highlanders.

would match each other with 31 points apiece in the third quarter with the Sydney-based squad holding a three-point lead, 79-76, as the final quarter began.
Duke Mondy and Kevin Loiselle took charge for the
Highlanders in the final frame, dropping a combined 19 points out of the Highlanders 40 points in the quarter, sealing the deal for the home team, in front of an estimated 600 fans.
Massey had a team-high 26 points and five rebounds for the Highlanders. Mondy and Loiselle finished the contest with 24 points apiece.
Du’Vaughn Maxwell led the offense for the Storm, dropping a game-high 35 points and six rebounds. Chris Johnson and Franklin Session chipped in with 23 points each.
The Highlanders will continue their four-game homestand when they host the Saint John Riptide (7-6) tonight at 7 p.m. at Centre 200 in Sydney.
Cape Breton and Saint John last met on Dec. 26 at Centre 200, a game that saw the Highlanders defeat the Riptide, who sit third in the Atlantic Division, 98-88.
