Sydney

-

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James ‘Jimmy’ Archibald Cameron, age 78, on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the An Cala Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on May 18, 1939, in Sydney, Jimmy was the son of late Murdock and Johnena (MacDonald) Cameron.

Jimmy was recognized as a career truck driver with an incredible work ethic, he worked many years with Swifts Canada and CP Express in Toronto. Later he returned home to Sydney to work as a Broker for CP, followed by many years working alongside his brothers with Cameron Trucking. Jimmy later retired as a Broker alongside his respected friends at Armour Transport.

Dad had a passion for tinkering with old cars and a sharp memory of the many back roads of Cape Breton without requiring a GPS. Jimmy loved the traditional local music, sharing time with his brothers, sisters and many extended family and friends. He will be remembered by his family and friends for being a kind gentle soul. Dad will be greatly missed by those whom crossed his path in life.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Benita (James) Des Roches, Orangeville, Ont., Joan (Eric) Deveaux, Dartmouth, Jamie (Rosanne), Sydney, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ethel (Jim) Rooth, Patricia (Trevor) Hanson, Donnie, Beatrice (Doug) Wall, Raymond (Wendy), Murdock (Karen); as well as several nieces and nephews.
