Walter Andrew Kuta, age 81, passed away peacefully and comfortabl­y under the excellent care of Harboursto­ne Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney on Thursday, January 11, 2018.

Walter was born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter “Laddie” and Maude (Miller) Kuta.

Walter was an electricia­n and a life time member of the IBEW, Local 1852. He enjoyed playing guitar, skating and spending time on the Mira River. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle and friend.

Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth “Ruby” (Curnew) Kuta; sons, John (Norma), Stephen and daughter, Cathy (Charlie) Moores; grandchild­ren, Cameron, Christina Moores; brothers, Roy (Marg), Bill (Anne), David; special nieces, Anna and Ava George along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Walter was predecease­d by his sisters, Joyce, Elsie and brothers, Gerry and Jimmy.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V. J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the church hall. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiatin­g. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or to a charity of one’s choice.
