It is with great sadness that we, the family of Jackie Walters announce his passing on Monday, January 15, 2018 surrounded by his wife and loving family.

Born on Grand Lake Road, he was a son of Lillian (Fillmore) and Frederick Walters.

Dad worked at Sydney Steel Corporatio­n for 44 years until his retirement in 1988. Dad had many friends and his home was always welcoming whether it be a place to lay your head or a warm meal. He was an avid bowler in his younger years with Metro Mix/Steel Plant league. He also liked jogging horses for friends at Tartan Downs. He was an outdoorsma­n that enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, grandkids and friends. Horse shoes and holey board were summer favourites.

Dad is survived by his loving wife, Veronica (Walsh) Walters of 66 years; sisters, Jenny Ley, Shirley Hawryluk; his children, Kim, Darrell (Anna), Corinne (Gerard) and Blair (Carrie), all of Sydney. He will also be missed by grandchild­ren, Shannon, Jay, Matthew, Hayes, Nathan, Ashley, Kimmer, John, Lena, Clinton, Natasha, Annette, Darrell, Brandee, Kristopher, Kayla, Alex, Keith, and Dillon. He is also survived by greatgrand­children, Piper, Bradley, Riyon, Zack, Tyler, Ethan, Ollivander, Annabelle, Aiden, Tristan, Brooklynn Morgan, Jessica, Kyjah, Jacqueline, Cameron, Paige, Brett, Keegan, Kawner, Wyatt, Sophia and Mason.

Dad was predecease­d by his daughter, Jacqueline; his siblings, Helen Hulford, Delia Dobson, William, Louise Briand, Perry, Charles and Edward.

Visitation for Jackie will take place from 12-2 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.

Celebratio­n of Life to follow, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception following.
