KENNEDY, Michael Alexander

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Michael Kennedy, announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 17, 2018. He was the son of the late Alexander and Sara Kennedy.

Michael enjoyed spending time fishing, playing Tarbish and Cribbage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sharon; son, Brad (Kelly) Whitby, Ontario and granddaughters, Riley and Ally; special grand-daughter, Blair (Peanut) and her mom, Jessica (Thomas) Reid; his sister, Anne (Jack) Claire; brothers, Brian (Susan) Kennedy, Louisbourg, Ken (Vernice), Sydney, Kevin, Louisbourg and John (Diane) Louisbourg; brothersin-law, Gordon (Greta) Reid, Westmount, Brian (Christine) Reid, Fort St. John, BC, and sisters-in-law, Gail (Ralph) Charlong, Westmount, Nancy (Breton) Lumsden, PE, Linda (Gary) Fenton, Nanimo, BC; close friend, Henry Burns, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (Winston) Slade, Regina Kennedy; brother, Martin (Elsie) Victoria, BC; mother and fatherin-law, Barbara and Malcolm Reid; brothers-in-law, Danny and Blair Reid, and sister-inlaw, Karen Reid.

A Celebration of Michael’s life will take place Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception to follow. Burial at a later date.
