Trial date assigned to Glace Bay man

SYDNEY — A Glace Bay man is to appear in Supreme Court in April to be assigned a trial date on sex offences.

Wayne Babstock, 79, of Burchell Crescent, is charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation involving a person under the age of 17.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2013 and June 2017 in Glace Bay. Babstock has elected to be tried by Supreme Court judge and was ordered to trial after a preliminary hearing Monday.

A trial date is now expected to be assigned April 5.
