It is with broken Hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband and father on February 10, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Glace Bay he was the son of Blanche and the late Patrick Burrows. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lorraine (Turnbull); his daughter, Nancy; special sons, Billy and Nick; Poppy’s girl, Callie; brother, Chris (Debbie); nephew, Robbie (Courtney), and his children, Norah, Madelyn and Isabelle.

He is predecease­d by his sister, Dorthy, and nephew, Ian.

He worked 36 plus years for Cape Breton Beverages and was fondly known as “Pepsi George”.

Dad was known as the Mayor of Birch grove. He is served as term as district councilor and was President of the Rec Centre for over 25 years. He will be best remembered as the Saturday night bingo caller.

In his younger years he played softball, hockey and was a provincial bowler. Later he was President of the Eastern Suburban Little League, coaching mosquito and beaver allstar. He then went on to coach with the Glace Bay Little League for a few years. Dad was an avid Baseball and hockey fan. In recent years he enjoyed ice fishing with his brother Chris and special friend Wilbert. His last day of ice fishing was three days before he passed away.

Special Thank you to Dr. Cadegan, Brenda and all the nurses that assisted Dad on his journey.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the Direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass and Celebratio­n of life Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Annes Church Glace Bay.
