• Rain began, off and on, throughout the day on Sunday

• Freezing rain started around 8 p.m., Sunday, and lasted for a period of four to five hours, causing roads to become slippery

• Gravel roads across Inverness and Victoria County were ice covered by the weather event, including an eight-kilometre stretch of the Meat Cove Road

• The Department of Transporta­tion and Infrastruc­ture Renewal says about two to three inches of ice formed on the Meat Cove Road

• One Sand truck was dispatched to the Meat Cove Road area around 6 a.m. on Monday to deal with the situation.

• The road was not officially closed; however, road conditions were dangerous at the time

•The Department of Transporta­tion and Infrastruc­ture Renewal says road conditions on Meat Cove Road steadily became better throughout the day as the icy melted

• For the most part, road conditions have returned to normal in the area
