Bernadette Theresa McMullin, 88, of Glace Bay, died peacefully on February 14, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born April 1, 1929 in Cheticamp, she was predecease­d by her loving husband, Gordon McMullin (1969); two children, John Gordon and Donna Marie; parents, Peter and Lydia Muise and 12 brothers and sisters.

Bernadette is survived by her son, Gerard (Pam) McMullin of Ontario and daughter, Michelle (Jim) Close of Glace Bay; grandchild­ren, David, Gord (Amanda), Chris (Jenifer), Robert, Rachelle and Justin (Kate); great-grandchild­ren, April, Erin, Christophe­r, Olivia and Gordie.

Also survived by sisters-inlaw, Shirley Brown and Katherine Ryan; brothers-in-law, Donnie and Alfie McMullin.

Bernadette was a member of the former St. Anthony’s Church and at one time was an active member of the former St Eugene’s Church. She was involved in the Cursillo Movement, St. Vincent De Paul Society, CWL, Parish Council and the Liturgy Committee. She enjoyed bowling, reading, singing, word puzzles, baking, darts and knitting.

Visitation to be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.

The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, where Bernadette happily lived her final years, St. Vincent De Paul Society or a charity of one’s choice.
