Islanders’ 7-3 win puts Tradesmen on the brink of playoff elimination
The Cape Breton West Islanders replied in a big way in Game 4 of their Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League playoff series with the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen on Thursday.
Fearghus MacDonald scored twice and added an assist to help the Islanders to a 7-3 win over the Tradesmen in front of about 700 fans at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. The win gives Cape Breton West a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven quarter-final series and the
Islanders can move on with a win Saturday at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre in Port Hood. Puck drop is 6 p.m.
Calum MacPherson scored and chipped in two assists, while Stephen Fox, Chase Ellis and Draper MacLean scored and assisted for the defending league, Atlantic and national champion Islanders. Sam Grant
rounded out the scoring with a single.
Kinnon Williams had a goal and an assist for the Tradesmen, who took Game 3 by a 4-2 score on Tuesday. Dylan MacLeod and team captain Cam Langlois also found the back of the net.

Seth Crowe allowed six goals on 44 shots before being replaced by Josh Leudy in the third, who stopped 15 of 16 shots in relief.
If necessary, Game 6 will go Sunday in Membertou at 1 p.m., and Game 7 is slated for Tuesday in Port Hood at 7:30 p.m.
