Steroids keep on the pounds

- Kathy Golemiec

Hey there, it’s me, Kathy.

How was your week? The weather has been up and down. You just don’t know what to wear so I layer my clothes so I can either be too hot or take some off.

But I do like being hot.

Vicky and I went to healing touch and when I got there, my friend Dollie was there. It was good to see her. I hadn’t seen her since before Christmas.

Vicky loves going to healing touch. We get a lot out of it. On the way home, the weather changed so much we had a freeze up. We got home before it got too bad though.

I didn’t do the flea market this past week. I felt very weak. But I went in and then didn’t even open – I just turned around and went home. I will be there this week.

I am eating pretty good and drinking water. My hands are still giving me a lot of trouble. It’s like the fingertips are full of pins and needles.

I have two weeks left to be on steroids. They are getting me off some of the pills I’m on and that should make me feel human again. I sure hope so anyway.

Tip of the week: When you are getting your shower, make sure you are facing the taps. If you take a tumble, you won’t hit the faucet.

Dad and Janet weren’t over this week. Maybe they will come over this week.

My brother, Wanda and Emily were over to visit for a bit last weekend. It was great to see them.

The steroids have me up to 153. Do you believe it? I can’t.

I got Thunder’s nails done this week at Barkin’ Beauties in Westville. They do a great job on them and they don’t cost too much. It’s only $10 for nails. That’s a good price so you don’t have to fight with him. He hates getting them done.

I notice a lot more people are saying hello to strangers with a real smile on their faces. That’s a good thing.

I can’t wait for summer so we can go outside more often.

Here comes the sun. I sure hope it stays out. One of the top super foods is artichoke. It has the right amount of soluble fibre that is important to lower your cholesterol. Give it a try. I will.

I made pudding this week. I made cold pudding on the stove. Don’t try it. It’s awful. Well it wasn’t as bad as the time I tried to make an apple pie and didn’t cut up the apples and then wondered how they were going to flatten out.

I had chemo last week. It went well. It’s two weeks to go until the next session.

Thank you for the letters and gifts and putting me on your prayer list.

Have a good week. Be careful on the ice.
