Lila Marie Poirier, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Neil’s Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Susan “Suze” (Best) Lillington.

Lila worked at the fish plant for many years. She was a member of the Army, Navy, Airforce, Glace Bay as well as a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Lila was a very outgoing person, she loved going to Tim Horton’s on Commerical Street to meet her friends; she was also the life of the party where ever she went. She was described as a very, “Happy Go Lucky” person who adored her grandchild­ren. Lila’s door was always open for a meal, cup of tea or coffee.

Lila is survived by five daughters, Faye McLean (Tommy), Debbie Billard (Paul), Susan McNeil (Charlie), Charlene Mugford (Blaine), all of Glace Bay, Mona Bennett (Ken), Lower Sackville; one son, Jimmy, Ontario; two brothers, Raymond, Dingwall, Wilfred, Neil’s Harbour; several grand and great grandchild­ren as well as nieces and nephews.

Lila was predecease­d by her first husband, Charles Billard; second husband, Samuel “Fry” Poirier; son, David Charles Billard; two sisters, Louise, Helen; four brothers, Chester, Louie, Charles, Ralph; two great grandchild­ren and one stepgrandc­hild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. to 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Myrna McMullin is Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
