It is with broken hearts we the family of Colin F MacDonald announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Born in Salmon River Colin was the eldest son of 14 children born to Duncan Alexander and Mary Anne (Thomas) MacDonald.

A quiet man in nature Dad was proud of a job well done and held a work ethic second to none.

Dad retired from Sydney Steel Corporatio­n where he enjoyed his work in the mobile dept.

He had a great love of animals and his dancing talents in his younger years were known far and wide.

There was nothing better to Dad then a good fiddle tune and was extremely proud to be living in the same home for which he was born.

Dad is survived by his daughters, Stella MacPherson, Heather (Keir) Hood and Kaye-Marie (Melvin) Dibbon; grandchild­ren, Melanie, John, Kent, Leah, Calum, Rachel, Jarred, Kyle, Aidan and Kayleigh; sisters, Joan MacLean, Anne Marie Gillis, Bernadette (Lucien) Gautier, Helen (Chuck) Nelson, Margie Mullins, Elaine (Dave) Fischer, Mary Clare (Peter) Langer; brothers, John T (Diane) MacDonald and Hugh (Charlene) MacDonald; sisters in-law, Donna MacDonald and Debbie Weiser; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Dad is predecease­d by his wife, Linda; sister, Stella; brothers, Joe, Cyril and Gordon and his loving son, Colin.

Visitation will take place 11 a.m. -1 p.m., Thursday, Mar.01, 2018 in the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Fr. Paul McGillivra­y officiatin­g. Interment will take place in St Margaret of Scotland Cemetery, Grand Mira

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Margaret’s Cemetery fund Grand Mira would be appreciate­d.
