There’s lots going on for youth in Glace Bay throughout March break.

Jeanette MacDonald secretary of the Glace Bay Y’s Men’s and Women’s Club, said laser tag at the club’s hall on Commercial Street is being offered 12-5 p.m., daily until Sunday.

MacDonald said there is a special March break rate of $6 for 30 minutes of play per person or $10 per person for an hour of playtime. The facility can accommodate any number of kids.

“If two are playing and three more show up, then all those kids can play against each other.”

MacDonald said by May, the laser tag will be moved to the second floor of the former Morrison school, which the club purchased last year.

“The laser tag is doing well, we’ve even had quite a few birthday parties booked.”

As well bowling is open to the public at the Town Lanes every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 p.m.

“The bowling alley did really well on Monday with people coming in, it was packed,” she said.

“It was a good start to the March break.”

MacDonald said the walking track at Morrison school is also attracting attention. In the last two weeks, the track has been open three days a week and they’ve had 63 people use the facility.

People using the track can also walk around the first floor of the former school.

“We are getting a really good response,” she said. “It’s growing slowly but it’s growing.”

MacDonald said they have had a number of people with disabilities who enjoy the safe area to walk and one family has brought their son, who is in a wheelchair, for outings.

“We’ve had all ages, young and old, and have had people with walkers and with canes.”

The track is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The cost is $1 to use the track.

“If it continues to grow we will be opening it Mondays and Fridays as well.”
