MOLLON, Joan (Morrison)

-

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Joan Mollon, 83, wish to announce her passing at MacGillivray Guest Home, March 16, 2018 with her daughter by her side.

Joan was born August 8, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Elizabeth and M.J. Morrison.

Mom lived her last years at My Cape Breton Home for Seniors and most recently the MacGillivray Guest Home. She received such wonderful care and love from the staff at these homes. Before living here, she spent 22 years at the Tillock Drive Seniors Complex where she made great friends and memories. She enjoyed the frequent card games, dart tournaments and get-togethers they had.

Mom had an infectious smile and gentle personality; she was truly liked by all who met her. She had a great love for her grandchildren and only child, Elizabeth; as well as a special love and fondness for her sonin-law, John. Besides her family, her greatest love was animals, especially cats. She was so happy in their company.

She is survived by her only child, Elizabeth (John Archie); granddaughters, Brittani (Brian), Cassie (Michael) and only grandson, Jacob as well as great-grandson, Gage and great-granddaughter, Abigail. Joan is also survived by her brother, George Mazur.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond and her sister, Gloria Snow.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Regional Hospital Emergency Department as well as the beautiful nurses at the Northside General emergency department.

Visitation for Joan will be held Tuesday, March 20 from 12-2 p.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney. A Celebration of her Life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.

Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society or the MacGillivray Guest Home.

“Rest in peace my beautiful Momma”.
