Q: Why should I pre-plan my own funeral?

A:

Pre-arranging your funeral is sometimes a hard thing for a person to talk about and follow through with. Most people want to do it, but are apprehensive about visiting the funeral home and speaking about their own death.

When the pre-arrangement meeting is over, people are always very happy that they came in and completed it. Sometimes they don’t finish everything because other options were discussed that they were unaware of. They may need some time to think about exactly what they want, or maybe they would like to speak to the rest of their family about their choices and see what their thoughts are.

If a person travels having their funeral prearranged also is an advantage if something happened to them while they were out of town. The family should still contact the funeral home where the arrangements are and the funeral director can look after the wishes of the family where ever the person was travelling.

If a person’s family have moved away, and a person passes. The funeral home has the wishes of the person so they can start the paperwork and wishes of the person. Pre-planning your own funeral will let your family concentrate on other important items, like selecting the date and time of the funeral, picking flowers arrangements and finalising the obituary.
